An Administrative Hearing is a civil (not a criminal) proceeding. Persons found liable through an adjudication process may be fined and/or ordered to comply with the City Code. Under the Administrative Hearing system an Administrative Hearing Officer determines if ordinance citations are valid. The following list contains the types of cases that may be heard in an Administrative Adjudication Process:
Parking and Equipment offenses fall into a class which has a minimum fine the offender can pay before the first court appearance.
Local Ordinances (Code and All Other) fall into a class which is mandatory court appearance required offenses and the offender does not have the option to pay a fine before the court appearance.
Payments can be made with the Violations Clerk at the Sterling Police Department in the form of cash, check or money order. Credit cards are also accepted through a secure website for a $3 service fee.
Failure to pay indicated fine and any other penalties or failing to appear at a hearing may result in the maximum amount of the fine penalty, and will be turned over to a collection company.
Court dates are always the third Tuesday of every month at 8:30 am. All juveniles must be accompanied by a parent/guardian.
