Hello, I am Retha Elston your Ward One Alderman. I have been a registered nurse at KSB Hospital in Dixon since 1986. In 2006 Mayor Ted Aggen appointed me to represent the residents and businesses of Ward One. I was elected in 2007, re-elected in 2011 and have served on the Liquor and Tobacco Commission since 2007.

I have lived in Ward One since 1986. My husband Andy and I have raised 3 children (Christine, Drew and Cody) in this area filled with unique neighborhoods, parks, good schools, museums, shopping and delicious eateries. I love giving back to the community that has been so good to my family.

I have been involved in numerous volunteer organizations such as a past Girl Scout leader and volunteer, Cub Scout and Boy Scout volunteer, Unit 5 volunteer, past PTO co-president of Lincoln/Jefferson Schools as well as a Pre-school and Kindergarten teacher for my church on Wednesday evenings. I also enjoy helping out in community service programs. Our family has been involved in the Rotary Foreign Exchange Program, and we have had 3 sons/brothers from South America (Brazil and Ecuador). We love showing them how friendly and helpful the citizens of Sterling are. This is an amazing town that has much to offer and is filled with people that take pride in their community.

Feel free to contact me if you have any questions or concerns by e-mail or call my home phone at (815) 626-5923 and leave a message. I will try my best to answer your questions or address your concerns as quickly as possible.
