In This Department
The Sterling Police Department continually strives to accomplish its mission to promote, preserve, and deliver a feeling of security, safety and quality service to the Sterling community. In 1991, we began our transition into Community Policing. Today, we continue to experiment and evolve in that direction.
Our focus now is twofold; to work with citizens and government to improve the quality of life in Sterling and also to concentrate on the youth of the community. In 2016, then newly appointed Police Chief Morgan designated the following mission, which the department would seek to undertake:
Professionalism: We are proud of our profession and will ensure that our members are dedicated, highly trained and capable of handling the daily demands of the law enforcement profession. We promote a collaberative environment for sharing information, resources, assistance and expertise.
Respect: We will treat all people with compassion, tolerance and dignity by providing professional law enforcement services through highly trained personnel accountable to our community.
Integrity: We adhere to the highest moral and ethical standards. Honesty and sincerity serve as the foundation in dealing with each other and the community. In all we do, we have the courage and commitment to uphold these values.
Dedication: We are dedicated to protecting life, property and maintaining order while assuring fair and equal treatment to everyone.
Excellenence: We strive to maintain the highest standards of training and technology to create a safe environment for our citizens and ensure that the residents and visitors of this community receive the best care when we are called upon to perform our duties.
